Efficiency of Spatial Distribution of Parks And Green Spaces in The City of Nasiriyah Using Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

Abstract

The study aimed to investigate the efficiency of the spatial distribution of public parks in the city of Nasiriyah at the level of regions and neighborhoods of the city of Nasiriyah and analyze the reality of these parks and green spaces with a focus on constructed gardens, and the researcher divided this research into two chapters that dealt in the first chapter with the study area, the location, borders, and the definition of green spaces and public parks In cities, pilgrimage and spatial distribution of green spaces in general, as well as the importance of green spaces and public parks, as well as the per capita share of green spaces for some countries and cities of the world, I dealt with in the second chapter (the practical framework) the spatial distribution of public parks in the study area and the city of Nasiriyah was divided into 13 districts. Residential, and touched upon the numerical distribution of parks, as the study area contains 416 public parks according to the data of the Municipality of Nasiriyah - the Gardens Division. 93 parks were constructed, and the construction rate was 22,3%. The study also showed the percentage of public parks area at the neighborhood level and the construction rate at each level A residential neighborhood area and the study also focused on the pattern of garden distribution and the per capita share of public gardens, as well as the scope of influence. The study showed results that there is an overlap in the scope of influence in the neighborhoods near the heart of the city, and this overlap decreases the farther from the heart of the city, and the research focused on the percentage of garden construction at the level of the study area in general and also the percentage of construction at the neighborhood level with knowing the area of ​​each neighborhood and comparing it with the area of ​​gardens The research also touched on knowing the spatial distribution pattern of the constructed gardens, and the distribution pattern was of the convergent congregational type. The study recommended the need to raise the construction rate and work to increase the per capita share of public parks by setting up an annual plan for the construction of parks in residential neighborhoods and work to rehabilitate the tourist side of the Euphrates River because of its importance for tourism and recreation, and to create a geographical database for public parks for all neighborhoods and regions of the city of Nasiriyah in order to Providing information and bytes for specialists and working on updating them constantly .
