Abstract

The research aims to address the concept of residential relocation (between residential neighborhoods only) without taking into account the relocations within the same residential neighborhood, as well as identifying their directions according to spatial variations and their biases according to (distance, scope, and territory). The research focused on the residential movement, which carries several visions and concepts, but it flows into one tributary or what is called (local movement, internal urban migration, residential movement) in the city of Al-Gharraf according to the above spatial trade-offs, after reviewing theoretical studies and applied research locally and regionally in this perspective taken As a basis for discovering many special aspects of the basic concepts of the residential relocation literature To achieve the requirements of this, a random sample was taken, the size of (367) housing units, according to their urban dimensions, out of the total number of housing units, amounting to (8338) housing units. The city is divided into residential regions by adopting the cluster analysis method. The characteristics of the phenomenon under study were analyzed on the basis of the spatial dimension, according to the methodology of geography of cities, which represents the overlapping areas of the city. The inductive approach was adopted. It has been proven through research that the residential relocation is controlled by a set of decisions, goals and intentions that are linked to a number of variables of spatial bias and its variations that led to moving in different directions, according to the characteristics, motives and intentions of relocation (real and potential). The residential movements tended towards the external domain, and it was proven that the possibility of changing the house or planning to move to housing decreases with the advancing age of the head of the family. While the research indicated that married couples seek to obtain independent housing for them to fulfill their social and economic desires, which by achieving them seek to overcome the problems that are growing within the maternal family.
