The Role of School-Based Activities in Enhancing Students' Leadership Skills in Private Schools
Abstract
This study aimed to identify the role of school activities in enhancing leadership skills among students in private schools from the teachers' perspective. The study employed a descriptive methodology. A questionnaire consisting of 57 items was developed to assess the role of school activities in fostering leadership skills among private school students. The questionnaire comprised three main sections: the first section addressed the role of student activities in enhancing leadership skills among students، divided into sub-dimensions of planning، decision-making، teamwork، dialogue، and social responsibility; the second section addressed the obstacles preventing student activities from contributing to the development of leadership skills among students، equally divided into sub-dimensions of organizational، human، and material obstacles; and the third section addressed the mechanisms by which student activities contribute to the development of leadership skills among students، divided into sub-dimensions of organizational، human، and financial aspects. The study sample consisted of 77 teachers from Al-Andalus Private Schools in Al-Hamdaniya. The study showed that most participants responded positively to school activities that enhance leadership skills among students in private schools. The results also revealed obstacles to implementing these activities، most notably a lack of funding. The study recommended the following:
- To introduce activities that enhance communication skills، as this study contributes to activating student activities in private schools.
- To encourage students to challenge themselves and strive for excellence by providing projects that motivate them to research، explore، and push their boundaries.
- To encourage students to be patient and confident in their abilities to overcome challenges and find effective solutions.
